Habakkuk 2:2-4 / Romans 1:16-17

The LORD answered me, “Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he who runs may read it. For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries towards the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it, because it will surely come. It won’t delay. Behold, his soul is puffed up. It is not upright in him, but the righteous will live by his faith.”

— Habakkuk 2:2-4

For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, because it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first, and also for the Greek. For in it is revealed God’s righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, “But the righteous shall live by faith.”

— Romans 1:16-17

In his letter to the church at Rome, Paul seems to equate the spreading of the gospel to the scene in Habakkuk, where the vision was to be written and shared by runners as the moved from community to community, sharing the news and then moving on. Paul notes the Good News is shared from faith to faith, similar to a messenger who is announcing important information.
